What is mesalazine, what does it treat and what does it do?

A

Aminosalicylate

  • treats mild-to-moderate UC
  • modulates inflammatory cytokine secretion + inhibits leukotrienes, prostaglandins that are responsible for the expression of pro-inflammatory molecules.
