- Peptic ulcers
- CV toxicity – worsen heart failure

- Worsen asthma

What adverse drug reaction can diuretics used in the treatment of liver disease cause?

- Gout

In patients with liver disease why should they be given paracetamol 1g BD rather than QDS ?
A
- Because in liver disease paracetamol has a much longer half-life so this is to avoid overdosing someone

- Yes

What is Hy’s rule ?
A
If patient has ALT/AST > 5 x ULN And Bilirubin > 3mg/dl. And absence of raised ALP & no other reason for raised LFT markers e.g. viral hepatitis Then they are at high risk of a fatal drug-induced liver injury
