Drugs Flashcards
Thiazolindinediones (TZDs) action
TZD increase fatty acid storage in which cause cells to rely/glucose to produce energy
Alpha Glucosidase Inhibitors drugs
acarbose, miglitol, voglibose
SGLT-2 Inhibitors drugs
Empagliflozin, Canagliflozin, Ipragliflozin, Tofogliflozin, Sergliflozin etabonate
SGLT-2 Inhibitors s/e
urinary tract infection, Ketoacidosis, candida vulvovaginitis, HYPOglycemia
SGLT-2 Inhibitors action
inhibit transporter and glucose remains and is eliminated by urine
Alpha Glucosidase Inhibitors action
c. Alpha-glucosidase inhibitors slow the breakdown of complex carbohydrates into glucose in small intestines
Biguanide drug
metformin
Beta-Blockers action
↓ cardiac output, ↓ HR, and ↓ force of contraction
Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors drugs
benazepril, captopril, enalapril, lisinopril
Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers drugs
losartan and valsartan
Thiazolindinediones (TZDs) s/e
edema, water retention, and weight gain, bone fracture.
Beta-Blockers drug
atenolol (Tenormin), metoprolol (Lopressor), propranolol (Inderal)
Sulfonylureas action
they inhibit K+/ATP channel in pancreatic beta cells → this stimulates production and release of insulin which allows body cells to use more glucose as energy source.
Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers also known as
Arbs
β2 Adrenergic Agonist action
bind to β2 receptors located in lungs, which dilate bronchioles/ smooth muscles and increases airflow
