Description
naturally occurring catecholamine. Increases HR, cardiac contractility, systemic vascular resistance, vasoconstriction, broncho dilation, respiratory tidal volume and vial capacity
Precaution
elderly, diabetics, hypersensitive patients, children <6, parkinson’s, asthma, heart disease, emphysema, tuberculosis
Side effect
tachycardia, pallor, dizziness, chest pain, headache, nausea/vomiting, excitability, hypertension, anxiety, tremors, cardiac arrythmias
indication
anaphylaxis
important info
can be given as an auto injector or may have to be drawn up from a vial or ampule
Contraindication
known hypersensitivity, narrow angle glucoma, NON-anaphylactic hypo-perfusion (shock), coronary insufficiency, dysrhythmias, females actively delivering a baby
