adam’s apple, helps create vibrations for noise
Inhalation
-diaphragm and intercostal muscles contract
-the diaphragm moves down slowly enlarging the thoracic cage from top to bottom
-ribs up and out
-pressure in the cavity falls, rushing air into the trachea
-negative pressure breathing
exhalation
-diaphragm and intercostal muscles relax
-all dimensions decreased returning to normal resting position
