A. Physiological: adaptive state involving intense physical disturbance when drug use is suspended (withdrawal symptoms) – negative reinforcing
B. Psychological: the psychic drive/craving for drug intake – positive reinforcing

A
faster to eliminate- greater dependance

nucleus accumbens- reward pathway –> addiction.
