DRI meaning and purpose
Dietary Reference Intakes; A committee of nutrition experts from the U.S. and Canada who publishes and updates nutritional data.
RDA meaning and purpose
Recommended Dietary Allowances; these are standards that are set to meet the dietary needs of almost all healthy people and are backed up by solid research.
AI meaning and purpose
Adequate Intakes; this group serves the same purpose as the RDA, but is not as proven scientifically and based on some educated guesswork.
UL meaning and purpose
Tolerable Upper Intake Levels; this committee sets appropriate consumption levels of nutrients to ensure safe levels in between toxicity.
EAR meaning and purpose
Estimated Average Requirements; establishes nutrient requirements for differing genders, health needs and stages in life.
AMDR meaning and purpose
+ Carbohydrate, Fat and Protein proportions
Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Ranges; this sets healthy intake levels of the specific groups; carbohydrate, protein, and fat.
