Dr Preddy Flashcards

1
Q

Why can brachialis flex forearm when pronated by biceps can’t?

A

Biceps attaches to radial tuberosity which in wrong direction to flex when pronated. Brachialis inserts to ulna which is not affected during pronation

Q

hand is attached to …

A

radius not ulna, radius is attached to ulna and ulna is attached to elbow
- anything attached to radius will cause pronation/supination ulna won’t

Q

4 superficial (put hand on forearm from medial epicondyle)

A
  • pronator teres
  • Flexor Carpi Radialis
  • Palmaris Longus (tendon pops out & 30% don’t have)
  • Flexor Carpi Ulnaris

Q

Intermediate muscle?

A

Flexor Digitorum Superficialis (make girly fist/bye-bye as inserts to the middle phalynx NOT distal/tips of the fingers of lateral 4 digits)

Q

3 deep muscles?

punch someone

A
  • FDP (only flexes tips so can make full fist)
  • Flexor Pollicis Longus (hide thumb in fist/flex thumb)
  • Pronator Quadratus (radius to ulna)

Q

What do lumbricals do?

A

straight fingers to thumb (in between knucles)
> run from FDP tendon and into dorsal digital expansion hood causing finger extension
> also flex MCP joint
