Pre-flight check for the door owner?

A
  1. The door is disarmed.
  2. Emergency Power Assist System (EPAS) pressure gauge needle is in the green zone.
  3. The door slide raft pressure gauge needle is in the green zone.
  4. The RED arrow must align when the door is closed and locked.
  5. The safety strap is fully retracted and not visible in the door frame.

SOP’s for normal door opening upon arrival.

A
  1. The seat belt sign must be switched off.
  2. The purser shall make the PA “clear to open doors” after the seatbelt sign has been switched off.
  3. The ground personnel will knock on the door viewing window. The door operator shall acknowledge the knock by signalling a thumbs up- through the door viewing window.
  4. Two cabin crew must be present. One crew member shall act as the ‘door operator’ and the other as a ‘door checker’.

Act out the arming Procedure of the door.

A

Flight crew shall make the PA “cabin crew prepare all doors and cross check”.
1. light the plastic guard, moving the slide arming lever into the arming position.
2. lower the plastic guard.
3. Ensure the girt bar indicators are yellow.
4. Walk to the opposite side and visually check the arming lever and girt bars.
5. confirm arming and cross checking to the purser (physically look at your door and cross check again over the phone).

Act out the door closing procedure.

A
  1. Check the door frame
  2. Check that the safety shoe has been removed
  3. Check the floor brackets are free from debris
  4. Check that the safety strap has been fully retracted and is not visible within the door frame.
  5. Pull on the gust lock lever until the gust lock disengages.
  6. Rotate the door control handle fully forward.
