Dominance and inheritance Flashcards
1
Q
What is complete dominance?
A
When the dominant allele masks the recessive allele
2
Q
What is incomplete dominance?
A
Dominant allele doesn’t completely mask the recessive allele, so offspring is a combination/blend of both (blue and red make purple)
3
Q
What is codominance?
A
Both alleles are dominant and are both seen in the offspring’s phenotype (e.g., black-BB and white-WW make speckled black and white-BW)
4
Q
Extra: what blood types are dominant over O?
A
A and B, so genotypes AO and BO are phenotypes A and B while genotype AB and OO are phenotypes AB and O.
