When don’t you need to pay vehicle tax?
If you’re not going yo use your vehicle on public roads, as long as you inform the DVSA in advance (SORN)

What should you do if you want to drive someone else’s car?
Make sure it’s insured for your use

What does an excess policy on your insurance mean?
If your insurance policy has an excess of £100, it means you pay the first £100 of any claim or damage to your car

Helps newly qualified drivers widen their driving experiences and improve their basic skills
May also help lessen their insurance costs
When should cars get MOT?
They first get one when they’re 3 yrs old (4 in N.Ireland)
What doesn’t need an MOT?
Trailers/Caravans, but they need to be kept in good condition
How long does your MOT last?
1 yr
When don’t you need an MOT?
when you’re driving to an MOT appointment
What happens if you don’t have an MOT when you need one?
Can’t renew your vehicle tax
Could invalidate your insurance
When are you exempt from MOT?
Some older vehicles are exempt, but if it’s still used, it should be in roadworthy condition
What happens if the police ask to see my documents and I don’t have them with me?
You can produce them at a police station within 7 days
If I want to get some practise while I’m learning to drive, who can accompany me?
The accompanying person MUST be 21 yrs old and have held (and still hold) a valid licence
I’ve heard I’m on probation for two years after I’ve passed my test. What does this mean?
If you get 6 or more points within the first two yrs, you’ll lose your licence and have to reapply for a provisional + retake your theory and practical
What happens to points on your provisional?
They get transferred to your licence once you pass
