Q

Importance of complementary base pairing

A

The structure of DNA remains exact and orderly, hydrogen bonding between the strands ensures that the DNA molecule does not form an irregular shape. Base pairing enables the strands to seperate so the information can be used in replication and transcription

Q

antiparallel nature of DNA

A

DNA strands run in opposite directions, and go from 5’ to 3’ direction. The phosphate end will always be the 5’ end (think pha) and the 3’ end will be the sugar
