DMS Flashcards
What is RELYX
Give Type/ Use/ ADV or Disadv
RMGI cement.
Use- Can be used for MCC but not first choice.
Disadv- Contains HEMA which absorbs moisture so we avoid this for cementing porcelain crowns or post core.
What is Aquacem
Give Type/Use/ ADV or Disadv
Glass ionomer cement
Cementing- Metal crowns. Metal ceramic crowns. Metal posts.Zirconia
What is Nexus?
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Dual cure composite resin cement
Cementing Fibre post/ porcelain inlay, composite inlay, Porcelain crown.
Disadv- Also need to apply dentine bonding agent for it to bond.
What is Panavia
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or Disadv
Anaerobic cure composite.
Used for resin retained bridges.
Disadv- You also need oxyguard as it can only cure in anaerobic environments.
What is temp bond?
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Zinc oxide eugenol (Or Eugenol free) cement
Used for cementing temporary restorations.
Eugenol free one does not bond it requires a retentive cavity.
What is Cavit
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Eugenol free filling material
Used to plug a hole.
Disadv- Not strong enough to sit exposed in the oral cavity- We use it as a layer below GI.
What is Clip?
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Composit resin with Bis GMA
Use a temporary filling material for teeth with preps.
Adv- Good for indirects as you don’t want to alter the prep.
What is protemp?
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Bisacryl Composite
Use: creating temporary crowns and bridges.
Disadv- not as many shade options.
Adv- Low polymerisation shrinkage and good compresive strength.
What is Kalzinol?
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Zinc Oxide Eugenol filling material (Oil of cloves)
Used for temporary filling materials.
Disadv- Affects setting reaction of composite & does not set under amalgam.
Needs to be completely removed prior to restoration with these materials.
What is Ledermix?
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
An intracanal medicament mix of corticosterod and tetracylcine.
Use: for Hot pulps.
Adv- reduces inflammation in the pulp.
What is Avoygyl?
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Butamben, Iodoform and eugenol
Use: Dry socket.
What is Vitrebond
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Glass ionomer lining material.
Lining deep cavities.
Disadv- Affects composite bonding.
What is unocal?
Give Type/ Use/ Adv or DIsadv
Non setting calcium hydroxide.
Used for Apexification
Disadv- Can only stay in the tooth for 4-6 weeks or it will make the tooth brittle.
Ultracal/ Dycal
Give Type/Use/Adv and disadv
Setting calcium hydroxide.
Used for pulp cap
Disadv- we need to apply vitrebond to prevent it washing away.
