Reasons for fall in death rate, 5?
A
- Improved nutrition = Increased people’s resistance to infection.
- Medical improvements.
- Public health improvements = Purer drinking water and improved sewage disposal.
- Other social changes = Decline of more dangerous jobs (mining) and smaller families reduced transmission of infections.

Life expectancy, has greatly increased to what?
A
In 1900 it was 50 years for males, and 57 for females. In 2005 it was 77 yrs for males and 81 for females.

Give one reason for why the life expectancy was low in 1900?
A
Largely due to high IMR pulling down the average life expectancy of the population as a whole.

A
About 600,000 per year. However, have been flactuations, World Wars and 1918 flu epidemic.
