What is the hiearchy/level of precedence when assigning item IDs when creating a new catalog record?
- 2.1.4.2.2.1. National Stock Number (NSN).
- 2.1.4.2.2.2. If no NSN, use NDC.
- 2.1.4.2.2.3. If no NSN or NDC, then use Universal Product Number (UPN).
- 2.1.4.2.2.4. If no NSN, NDC, or UPN, then use the MFG‘s Part Number.
- 2.1.4.2.2.5. If none of the above, use the Vendor‘s Catalog Number (VCN).
- 2.1.4.2.2.6. As a last resort, assign a local (LOC) item ID.

What are the three functional groups in DMLSS
Equipment and Technology Management, Materiel Management, Facilities Management
IM
Inventory Management. Used by logistics personnel, IM tracks supply requirements from submission to receipt. IM also implements a simple automated quality assurance program covering recalls, suspensions, and hazard alerts.
AM
Assemblage Managment. AM provides assemblage management capability, including assemblage sales, quality assurance, and identifying items to be ordered, replenished, transferred, or received.
AM automates the seamless, efficient transition from peacetime to wartime.
CAIM
Customer Aera Inventory Management. Used by customers, CAIM is a catalog, ordering, inventory, receiving, and budget management tool for supplies and equipment.
CAIM establishes, maintains, and supplies patient care-related materiel up to the point of use.
CAIM reduces time spent uploading inventory data and processing replenishment orders and receipts.
FM
Facility Managment. FM ensures that facilities (for instance, buildings and their facility systems) are acquired, operated, repaired, maintained, altered, and cleaned in a manner that provides the optimum productive environment for healthcare operations.
