NO! It must be continued.

at risk for DKA even if blood glucose levels are not markedly elevated

What is the most important treatment for DKA?

A
  • Fluid therapy!
  • monitor electrolytes every 2-4 hours
  • K+ should be given to replenish depleted K+
  • Insulin (slow drip to drop BG 100/hour)
  • sodium bicarb
