most accurate test is colonoscopy. Barium studies are acceptable, but not as

to decrease the rate of progression and complications.

  • Left lower quadrant pain and tenderness
  • Fever
  • Leukocytosis
  • Palpable mass sometimes occurs

atb for E.coli and anaerobes

Ciprofloxacin+metronidazole
OR
Amoxicillin/clavulanate
Ticarcillin/clavulanate or piperacillin/tazobactam
Ertapenem (carbapenems)
