- Results in bleeding and widespread microvascular thrombosis

What are the causes of DIC?

A

INFECTION
-gram -ve, meningococcal, viral

MALIGNANCY
-solid tumours, leukaemia

OBSTETRIC
-Eclapmsia, retained placenta, amniotic fluid embolus

IMMUNOLOGICAL
-Anaphylaxis

LIVER DISEASE
-Acute liver disease, cirrhosis
