Describe the structure of the thoracic vertebrae
Thoracic vertebrae have a heart shaped body with demi facets, costal facets on transverse process, and inferior pointing spinous processes.
Superior and inferior demi-facets
Superior: for articulation with head of rib.
Inferior: for articulation with head of rib below.
Describe the structure of the breasts
Roughly 20 lobes which each drain into a single lactiferous duct to the nipple.
What is the nerve supply to the breast?
The breast is supplied with cutaneous fibres from the anterior and lateral cutaneous branches of the 3-5th intercostal nerves.
What are the 3 regions of bone?
Diaphysis, metaphysis, and epiphysis (from bottom to top)
What are long bones?
Eg. femur
What are flat bones?
Eg. skull
What are irregular bones?
Eg. vertebrae
What are short bones?
Eg. tarsals of the ankle and the carpals of the hand
What are sesamoid bones?
Eg. patella
Condyle?
Rounded end of bone that assists in articulation
Trochlear?
Smooth articular surface of bone on which another glides
Trochanter?
Bony protuberances by which muscles are attached
