What is the dispositional explanation ?
It is an explanation of behaviour which highlights the importance of the individual’s personality.
What is the authoritarian personality ? What do they tend to be dismissive of ?
It is a type of personality which Adorno argued was susceptible to obeying people in authority. They tend to be dismissive of inferiors
What did Adorno want to understand about the holocaust ?
They wanted to understand the anti semitism of the holocaust.
What did they believe if someone had a high level of obedience ?
They believed that person to have a psychological disorder.
What did they think was the reason for this disorder ?
They believed this was because of the personality of the individual.
What did Adorno argue people with an Authoritarian personality showed ?
An extreme respect for authority figures
