Bowlby monotropic theory Expl of attachment Flashcards
According to bowlby’s monotropic theory, how are attachments formed ?
He argued attachments are biologically preprogrammed into caregivers and babies to form attachments. The reason for this attachment for both is to protect the baby from danger and to keep them alive
How are attachments biologically pre programmed into us ?
Through evolution. For instance, babies who form strong attachments with their caregivers will be more likely to survive into adulthood as they were more likely to be protected from danger. They will also have babies of their own and share on the same strong attachments and the process continues
What are social releasers ? and give examples
These are behaviours that baby perform to attract the attention of their caregivers to get what they. Examples include crying, crawling and following
