ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE
A
Irreversible brain disease that gradually worsens, resulting in memory loss and decreased intellectual abilities

CAUSES
A
- Plaque between neurons
- fibres become tangled
- shortage of neurotransmiter

SYMPTOMS
A
- memory loss and confusion
- ability to speak decreases
- increasing aggression
- tasks involving multiple steps become impossible

- help maintaining mental functions (medication)
- control behavioral symptoms

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
A
myelin sheath hardens over time and eventually the whole neuron, is permanently damaged.
MS sufferer will have gradual loss of muscle control, coordination in all parts of the body, this leads to disabilities

CAUSE
A
-more common in older white females
genetics play a role
exposure to various environmental stresses may trigger onset MS

- loss of speech
- inability to walk
- numbness in arms or legs
- loss of memory
