Disinfection of stables and premises Flashcards
Condition
◦ Crew must be mentally, physically fit and healthy ◦ Proper education, training of the workers
◦ Proper clothing and tools
‣ Boots, Water resistant clothing, gloves, helmet, Gas mask, Protective eyewear
◦ If animals are still inside–> not toxic disinfectants
◦ No eating, drinking, smoking
◦ In case of use of cc.acid or base–> cleaning of the skin is important
◦ Protection of the buildings and tools
‣ High pressure washing systems
Calculation of the amount of disinfectants
◦ Depends on: Quality of the surface, Size of the surface, Cleaning prior to the disinfection
◦ High pressure washing systems (10-20bar) for every m2: ->Foil (smooth surface) 0,1 liter, concrete, tile 0,2 liter, Planking or whitewashed surface 0,5 liter, Bricks1
liter, Clay1,5 liter, Loose surface, sand 3,0 liter.
◦ In case of low pressure washing systems: 1,5*
Process
- remove everything
- emptying of the drinkers, feeders
- physical cleaning of ceiling, walls, floor, ventilation system
- strip out all equipment for cleaning
- dust removal, cut the power, soaking (1.5-3h detergent/foam, active substance can go into small cracks)
- wash with high pressure washing system (roof-> walls–> floor), wet all surfaces, extra attention to corners/ cracks/ seams
- porous surfaces!!
- cleaning surroundings (4% oschlorine base)
- closing of the building
- equipment check before reinstall
Disinfection of drinkers
◦ Removal of the water ◦ Physical cleaning brushing ◦ 1 g Neomagnol pulv. techn., or ◦ 1 Neomagnol tabl./ 10 l water, 2 hours ◦ 0,1 g chlorinated lime/ 10 l water, 2 hours(must smell like Cl2 after two hours)
Disinfection of wells
◦ Identification of the source of infection
◦ Emptying the well
◦ Chlorinated lime, chlorine-base
◦ No water removal for 24hours!
‣ Pour it into the well (tube)
‣ Maximum 30-40mdepth
‣ If deeper contact local authorities
◦ Cisterns: Like normal wells, But double dose of lime or chlorine-base
◦ 24h later water must have: Chlorinated smell, Chlorinated taste–> If not, disinfection must be repeated–>Before that water must be removed
◦ Driven well must be pumped until the water is odorless
Disinfection of the water system (tubes)
◦ Ca-, Mg, “biofilm” (protozoa, algae, bacteria)
◦ CID2000 (210g hidrogen-peroxid, 55g peracetic-acid 10g acetic-acid/l)
◦ High cc before the animals for cleaning and disinfection
◦ 80% of the effectiveness last 18-20hours
◦ Low cc, every other day, disinfection of the water
Monitoring the efficiency of disinfection
- direct swabbing techniques with media
1, Stuart: Neisseria, Haemophilus, Diphteriae, Trichomonas, Strep., Salmonella, Shigella
2, CaryBlair: Neisseria, Haemophilus, Strep.
3, Amies: Neisseria, Trichomonas, Corynebacteria, Haemophilus, Strep., Enterobacteraceae - quantitative monitoring
- ready to use tests - Boot Swabs
