The immune system is impaired leaving you at risk of other infections.
Describe cholera?
A bacterium.
Causes diarrhoea.
Spreads by contaminated water sources.
Reduce the spread by clean water supplies.
Describe malaria?
A protist.
Damages red blood cells.
Mosquitoes are carriers and pass them on to humans.
Reduce by mosquito nets or insect repellent.
Describe HIV?
Sexually transmitted virus spread by infected bodily fluids.
Infects and kills white blood cells and leads to aids.
Reduced by condoms or medication.
