spatic = affects cortex, stiff muscles, awkward movements
ataxic = affects cerebellum, coordination and balance, unsteady walking, cant control hands
dyskinetic = affects basal ganglia, unconrollable movements, mouth affected
dental considerations with cerebral palsy
brain damage in development of fetal life/birth/few months
difficulty tolerating tx, increased malocclusion, increased trauma risk, high bruxism, drooling, poor OH, biting, PD, hyperplastic gingivtis, uncontrollable movements, spasms
leukaemia pt considerations dentally
gingival swelling, ulceration, spontaenous gingival bleeding, unusual mobility of teeth, mucosal pallor, herpetic infections, candidosis
chemotherapy dental affects
oral mucositis, increased infection and bleeding risk
enamel hypoplasia, microdontia, thin roots
radiotherapy dental affects
oral mucositis, xerostmia, caries, candida, sialadenitis
malocclusion, osteoradionecrosis risk, hypodontia, microdontia, hypoplasia
