What is a direct object?
A
A direct object is a noun, pronoun of word group that tells who or what receives the Action of the verb or that shows the result of the action.

What is the Formula for direct objects?
A
N/PRO (subj) + V/VP + who/what = N/PRO

Tips to identify them?
A
The direct object can be compound and separated by the conjunctions and, or, nor. These compound DOs share a V/VP and both answer the Who/what question.
A sentence can have multiple direct objects since they have different V/VP.
ALWAYS PRECEDE THE SUBJECT. CANNOT BE WITHIN PREPOSITIONAL PHRASES.
