A
By acting directly on the peripheral vasculature, will act on preload or afterload

A
Hydralazine, Nitroprusside

What will it cause on the heart?
A
Dilation of arteriole (↓ peripheral resistance, ↓ BP, ↑ HR, ↑ contractility of heart)

Common S/E?
A
Tachycardia, H/A, Palpitations

Usual dose/route?
A
IV, IM, or PO

Q
What to watch out for?
A
Severe tachycardia, SLE-like syndrome (facial rash), crackles in lung, rebound hypertension
