What personal qualities, experience and attributes do you have that will help you to be successful in this role? Give an example of how you have demonstrated these qualities.
Working as a crew member at McDonald’s: customer service skills.
Solving enquiries; treat customers as individuals and go above and beyond. Happy meal toy example.
Customers at heart of operations at TUI, so useful. Finding best-tailored solutions, going the extra (s)mile.
PPL experience; 16th birthday solo. Performing under pressure and remaining calm. Memory items and procedures, highest safety.
Crucial as airline pilot; safe and enjoyable experience; distinct sense of responsibility over couple hundred people makes calm important, so TUI customers safely make it to their destinations, excellent start/end to holiday in process.
What do you think will be the biggest challenge for you personally during the 18 month course, and how would you overcome it?
Sheer amount of information that will be taken onboard; ATPLs, type rating, steep learning curve.
Always loved independent learning, accustomed through school, PPL exams - taster of what’s to come, uni - aerospace: discipline to achieve high standards in the face of complex concepts, deadlines and perform to best ability.
Overcome steep learning curve and high workload: time management and discipline.
Schedule in past has worked, making necessary short-term sacrifices; helps stay organised, satisfies my strong desire to learn, and leads to good results.
Time away from home, but used to this with uni. Supportive and enthusiastic friends and family, passion I have to get to flight deck.
Considering our business model, why do you think a great customer experience is important and what would you do as a TUI pilot to enhance this?
TUI are customer-focused, aiming to give a great start and end to passenger holidays with flights.
Greeting customers, keeping them informed, small things like cleaning aircraft; positive atmosphere and comfort exceeding expectations.
Important that passengers receive the famous trusted, unique, and inspiring service, so that next year’s holiday is also with TUI.
D of E; charity shop - met and greeted customers when opening up face - to - face, resulting in smooth experience. Development of skills useful at TUI when interacting with your future customers.
Teamwork and collaboration important; TUI diverse.
GEC - diverse group of students. Valued differences in opinion to create unique solutions and play to strengths. Resulted in chance to present ideas to a board of experts, where we performed highly in a detailed Q&A session that followed.
Useful when adapting to the TUI environment and being able to provide the personalised service.
