Digestive System Flashcards
GASTRIN
located in stomach + small intestine. Released by vagus nerve + G cells in the pyloric glands
Functions:
Stimulates gastric acid, pepsinogen secretion
Modifies gastric and oesophageal motility
Stimulates gallbladder contraction
CHOLECYSTOKININ
a polypeptide hormone secreted by the mucosa of the upper intestine and by the hypothalamus
Functions:
Stimulates gall bladder contraction
Stimulates pancreatic enzyme secretion
SECRETIN
[A strongly basic polypeptide hormone secreted by the mucosa of the duodenum and upper jejunum when acid chyme enters the small intestine
Functions:
Stimulates pancreatic juice secretion (causing shift in the pH)
Diminishes gastric emptying
Diminishes gastric acid secretion
