List the order of the Digestion System
mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, anus
Mouth
Where the food is broken down and becomes a bolus
Oesophagus
The bolus travels down the oesophagus by the process of peristalsis (muscles contracting forcing the bolus down)
Stomach
Bolus is further broken down into a thick liquid called chyme
Small Intestine
Fat is broken down (by the duodenum) and nutrients are extracted and carried through the bloodstream (by the jejunum and ileum)
Large Intestine
Excess water is extracted
