Mouth
Food enters here medial to the entire head.
Tongue
Used to help break food down in the mouth along with teeth.
Parotid Gland
They are anterior to the ears produce saliva.
Sublingual Gland
Lie on the floor of the mouth produce saliva.
Submandibular Gland
Lie on the floor of the mouth produces saliva.
Pharynx
In the back of the mouth food passes through here.
Esophogus
Runs from the pharynx through the diaphragm moves food down into the stomach.
Stomach
Left side of the abdominal cavity breaks down food and absorbs some nutrients.
Pancreas
Extends across the abdomen from the spleen to the duodenum produces enzymes that break down food.
Liver
Located under the diaphragm produces bile that breaks down nutrients.
Gall Bladder
Tucked into the liver on the inferior surface holds onto bile and then releases it when the duodenum needs it.
Duodenum
Part of the small intestine chemical digestion begins here.
Jejunum
Second part of the small intestine just past the Duodenum
Ileum
Largest part of the small intestine makes up 60% of the small intestine
Cecum
A subdivision of the large intestine hold the appendix
