Recall the location and function of the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) and Switch
(all -900 and two -800 ships 3772, 3773)
The Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) light and switch is located on the aft overhead panel.
ELT Light: Illuminated (amber) – ELT has been activated and is simultaneously transmitting tone and position data.
ELT Switch:
- ARM (guarded position) ELT transmits automatically when it reaches its preset G-Load Limit.
- ON manually activates the ELT.
Note: All -900 and Ships 3772, 3773 (two -800’s) have one portable ELT installed on the aircraft (in the first overhead bin), and one an additional fixed ELT mounted in the tail cone.
Recall the number of radios available for VHF and HF communications. All -700. All -900.

Recall the number of minutes available on standby power with one fully charged battery. All -900.

Explain the function of the CAB/UTIL Switch.
All -900, -800 as modified.
Off – removes electrical power from the galley and cabin equipment.
ON – supplies electrical power to galley and cabin equipment systems.
Explain the function of the IFE/PASS Switch.
All -900, -800 as modified.
OFF– removes electrical power from installed components of the passenger seats, in-flight entertainment systems, and other power systems.
ON – supplies electrical power to installed components of the passenger seats, in-flight entertainment systems, and other power systems.
Explain the trailing edge flap load relief system on the
-900.
The trailing edge flap load relief system is available when flaps are selected from 10-40.
Recall the meaning of the ILS light. (all -900 and two -800 ships 3772-3777)
Illuminated (amber)- Indicates failure of both ILS sensor units.
Indicates a failure of a single ILS sensor unit when either system annunciator panel is pushed to initiate a recall. With a single ILS failure, light extinguishes when the system recall is reset
