Preceding constipation Blood in stool or vomitting Recent hospital admission Antibiotic use in last 8 weeks Previous bowel disease Immunocompromised Pregnancy

Examination
A
Temp Pulse Blood pressure Dehydration signs - tongue, skin, sunken eyes, lethargy Abdo examination Rectal exam if previous constipation

Management
A
Self-care advice to include
Sip fluids, eat when they can, No work of school until symptom-free for 48 hours
Normally resolves in 5-7 days
No orange juice of fizzy drinks
Good toilet hygiene and wash clothes separately
Advise on medications
Prescribe dioralyte for 5 days
