Major depressive disorder

A

Type: Depressive Disorder

Key Symptoms: Co-occuring in the same 2-week period, Depressed mood, AND/OR loss of interest or pleasure; AND 3 of the following: weight change, sleep change, psychomotor change, fatigue, worthlessness or inappropriate guilt, diminished concentration or indecisiveness, thoughts of death or SI.

SPECIFY: Single or recurrent, Mild/Moderate/Severe, Remission, Psychotic features

Adjustment Disorders

A

Type: Trauma- or Stressor-related Disorder

Key Symptoms: Occurring within 3 months of stressor(s), EITHER Distress disproportional to stressor(s) in severity or intensity, AND/OR Functional, social, or occupational impairment.

SPECIFY:

  • With Depressed Mood (Low mood, tearfulness, feelings of hopelessness)
  • With Anxiety (Nervousness, worry, jitteriness, separation anxiety)
  • With Mixed Anxiety and Depressed Mood
  • With Disturbance of Conduct
  • With Mixed Disturbance of Emotions and Conduct
  • Unspecified

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

A

Type: Trauma-related Disorder

Key Symptoms: In persons over 6 years old, EXPOSURE to a trauma, AND, co-occurring for more than one month more than three months after the trauma, meeting all criteria for the following four symptom groups: at least one of INTRUSION, or AVOIDANCE, and two of COGNITIVE, and AROUSAL SYMPTOMS.

SPECIFY:
With Dissociative Symptoms (Depersonalization or Derealization)
With Delayed Expression (behavioral changes not occurring for 6 or more months after the event)

Rule Outs:
Acute Stress Disorder if symptoms occur within 3 days to 1 month after the trauma, and have persisted for less than three months.

Acute Stress Disorder

A

Type: Trauma-related Disorder

Key Symptoms: EXPOSURE to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violation, AND nine or more of the following symptoms from any of the five categories, occurring within 3 days to 1 month after trauma, including INTRUSION, NEGATIVE MOOD, DISSOCIATIVE SYMPTOMS, AVOIDANCE or AROUSAL SYMPTOMS.

Rule Outs:
PTSD if symptoms have persisted for more than three months, or include cognitive symptoms.

Anorexia Nervosa

A

Type: Eating Disorder

Key Symptoms: Restricted eating and low body weight, severity based on BMI; AND Intense fear of gaining weight or persistent behavior that interferes with weight gain despite low weight; AND Disturbance in perception of body weight or shape; or body weight has undue influence on self-evaluation; or persistent lack of insight around seriousness of low body weight

SPECIFY:
Mild: BMI > 17
Moderate: BMI = 16 - 16.99
Severe: BMI = 15 - 15.99
Extreme: BMI < 15
- Restricting type: During the past 3 months, has not engaged in recurrent episodes of binge eating or purging behavior. Primarily presents with dieting, fasting, and/or excessive exercise.
- Binge-eating/purging type: During the past 3 months, has engaged in recurrent episodes of binge eating or purging behavior, including self-induced vomiting, or misuse of laxatives, diuretics, or enemas).
- In partial remission: After previously meeting full criteria, continuing to meet criteria B and C despite gaining enough weight for a sustained period of time to no longer meet criterion A.
- In full remission: After previously meeting full criteria, no longer meeting any criteria for a sustained period of time.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

A

Type: Neurodevelopmental Disorder

Key Symptoms: Presenting early in development, persistent deficits in social communication; AND restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, or activities.

SPECIFY:

  • With or without accompanying intellectual impairment
  • With or without accompanying language impairement
  • Associated with a known medical, genetic, or environmental factor
  • Associated with another neurodevelopmental, mental, or behavioral disorder
  • With catatonia

Rule Outs:
Selective mutism, social reciprocity is not impaired, nor are restricted or repetitive patterns present
