  • Fasting glucose > 7 mmol (>126 mg)
  • OGTT 2 H >11.1 mmol (>200)

  • Diet and exercise

Then Metformin
* if 3 months of diet + Exercise failed
* if HBA1c on diagnsois >58

Which second line drugs are most commonoly offered to be added to Metformin in management of Diabetes

A
  1. Increase dose of Metformin

And then any of the following according to patient’s choice

  1. DPP4 inhibitors ( -gliptins)
  2. Sulphonylureas (Gliclazide)
  3. Thiazolidinedione (pioglotazone)
  4. SGLT2 inhibitor (dapagliflozen)
