What are Dangerous Goods?

Articles or substances which are capable of posing a risk to health, safety, property or the environment when transported by air.
DG on Qantas is primarily governed by:
AEPM 7.2.2
CASA:
- Australian Civil Aviation Act Sect 23
- Australian Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR)
ICAO regulations are legally binding
IATA are industry guidelines
Qantas has several Operator Variations to IATA Regulations
Regulations do not apply to DG that are:
AEPM 7.2.2
- Provide medical aid in flight
- Provide veterinary aid in flight
- Dropping in connection with agricultural activities
- In connection with SAR
- Vehicles in specially designated aircraft
- Required for propulsion

- Follow the Basic Fire Drill
- Remove any external electrical power from the device
- Don heat resistant gloves (if avail) or alternative protection to remove device to safe location
- Contact the Cabin Crew to continue Basic Fire Drill
- If smoke/fumes present as appropriate consult:
A330 - Abnormal & Emerg Proc for Smoke/Fumes/AVNCS Smoke - Make the appropriate entry in the aircraft Technical Log
- Complete an Air Safety Incident Report

Warning:
Before cleaning up body fluids like vomit and blood you must use the apron, latex gloves and goggles found in the Hygiene Kit
When performing ‘mouth to mouth’ or ‘mouth to nose’ resuscitation, a laerdal mask should be used.
Syringes or other sharp objects that may be infectious, can be placed inside the Sharp’s container, or a puncture resistant container that has a secure seal. The container should be disposed of in the contaminated waste bag
