Hypertonic solution will cause tissue necrosis if infiltration of the IV occurs

Adult:
12.5 - 25 g of 50% solution (SIVP)
May be repeated as necessary
Pedi (1yr. or Older):
0.5 - 1 g/kg of 25% solution (SIVP)
May be repeated as necessary
