Definition of deviance
behaviour that is unacceptable in sport and society, as it’s tangent to the norms of society
Definition & example of relative deviance
behaviour accepted within sport, but not within wider society
EG - punch in boxing
Definition & example of absolute deviance
behaviour that is wrong in all situations
EG - drug taking
Describe positive deviance & give an example
- over conforming
- outside societal norms but not breaking rules
EG PAULA RADCLIFFE running through an injury

- under conforming
- rejecting norms of society
