The four stages of attachment

A

Pre-attachment: 0-2 months - babies prefer people to objects

In-the-making: 2-7 months - turn-taking and attention, taught by primary caregiver

Clear-cut: 7m-2y - showing specific attachments to specific people

Goal-corrected: 2y+ - attachments become increasingly intentional
