ATNR is present when
birth to 6 months
ATNR position
head turned to right means the arm on the right is extended and the left arm is flexed
STNR position when head is flexed
arms are flexed and legs are extended (head extended = arms extended and legs flexed)
STNR is present when
age 6-8 months. integrates when crawling is mastered
TLR position when in supine
if head extends, trunk and extremities extend
TLR position when in prone
head and body flexes
TLR integrates when
6 months
Galant reflex
lateral flexion of trunk towards the side of a stimulus if you stroke the spine from shoulder to hip. integrates by 2 months
moro reflex
stimulus is head dropping into extension. causes the baby to abduct arms, then quickly bring them into adduction and cry
Cerebral Palsy
CP is not progressive. it occurs d/t brain damage in utero or shortly after birth. variety of causes including material infection, prolonged labor, alcohol, CVA, seizures, meningitis
spastic CP: damage in which area of the brain
damage to motor cortex of the cerebrum. UMN damage
athetoid CP: damage in which part of the brain
basal ganglia

unilateral involvement of UE and LE
down syndrome occurs because of what genetic abnormality
extra 21st chromosome (trisomy 21)
- commonly have hypotonia, joint hypermobility, scoliosis, congentical heart defects, visual and hearing loss
