What is development?
Development is the changes which bring about improvement or growth - a measure of richness.
What is meant by a Developed Country?
A Developed Country is one that is rich, has many services and a high standard of living.
What are Living Standards?
Living Standards is a measure of how well off a person or a country is.
What is GNP?
It is a measure of a country’s wealth - the total amount of money earned by a country divided by its population.
What does Quality of Life mean?
Quality of Life is a measure of how contented people are with their lives.
What is meant by a Developing Country?
A Developing Country is one that is poor, has few services and a low standard of living.
What does a Developed Country have?
A Developed Country has: Good healthcare, High life expectation, Low birth rates, High GNP, No poverty, Freedom of speech, Clean water, High employment and High literacy and numeracy rates.
Jobs in less developed countries?
Most people in less developed countries are primary workers. Most people in less developed countries are farmers because they can’t afford to buy food, so they need to grow their own.
What effect does having so many farmers have on the economy?
If a country is selling only primary goods, they won’t get much money for them.
What are the four most developed countries in the world?
USA, UK, Japan and Italy.
What are the four least developed countries in the world?
Bangladesh, Kenya, India and Nigeria.
What are Primary jobs?
Primary jobs are jobs that involve collecting and using natural resources.
What are Secondary jobs?
Secondary jobs are where natural resources are changed into manufactured goods.
What are Tertiary jobs?
Tertiary jobs are jobs that provide a service for people.
