What is a normal pH of a urinalysis?
4.8 to 7.5
In a urinalysis urobilinogen is formed where, by what, and ends up where?
It is formed in the intestine by bacterial action and is reabsorbed into circulation and excreted by the kidney.
What is bilirubin?

Where is heme formed and how does it get into the urine?
It is formed from hemoglobin, component of RBC and is reabsorbed through the kidneys.
What are the most common two fecal profiles run?
O&P and Giardia
What is included in an O&P test?
confirms the presence of parasites,
What is the Giardia test include?
ELISA test, detects the presences of an antibody if an animal has been exposed to giardia.
What are the steps to a skin scraping and what can be expected of it, how long will it take?
The Dr. will use a scalpel blade to gently scrape the skin and will yield skin, hair, dander, and sometimes mites. There will be a small irritated area that signifies that it was done correctly to scrape those mites that possibly dig deep. It is transferred to a slide and mixed with oil to test for mites, eggs, and/or fungal infection. It takes about 5 minutes.
What is a fungal culture, how is it performed, what is the result time?
Done by plucking hairs and sticking them into DTM agar, slanted to inhibit growth, the cap must be left loose and if it is positive then it will yeild a red magenta color to indicate + result. Within 1-2 weeks.
Fleas have how many life stages and what are they’re percentages?
Three life stages, larva, pupa, and imago.
50% eggs, 35% larvae, 10% pupae and 5% adults.
