16
Q

What are gametes

A

Egg cells and sperm cells, each gamete contains half of the parents 46 chromosomes one of each pair

17
Q

What is a gene

A

A gene is a section of DNA which codes for a specific characteristic eg. Hair colour

18
Q

What are differences between dominant and recessive genes

A

recessive gene only shows if there are two copies. Dominant gene means there are two different genes but 1 gene dominates over the other

19
Q

What is mitosis?

A

When a diploid cell divides the resulting daughter cells receive a perfect copy of their parents cell chromosomes.

20
Q

What is meiosis?

A

Meiosis occurs in the cells of the ovaries and testes, producing gametes that only contain one of each type of chromosome

21
Q

When a sperm and a egg meet, what is the process called?

A

Fertilization
