Design Thinking Flashcards
Design Thinking
Focused on desirability, feasibility and viability - good for identifying and solving complex problems
Prototype
One manifestation of the product for stakeholders to interact with
Low Fidelity Prototype
Low functionality and resemblance to final product
Sketching
Occurs on pen/paper
Good way to come up with quick ideas
No actual functionality or automation
Medium Fidelity Prototype
Ideas with similar medium as final product - similar textures, weight, etc.
Some, but not all features/automation
Scripted Simulations
Storyboarded, predetermined set of tasks to follow
Wizard of Oz Prototyping
A person is controlling the interface without the user knowing
High Fidelity Prototype
Nearly fully implemented, one or two final designs
Looks and behaves like final design
Breadth/Horizontal prototype
Lots of features, limited in functionality
Depth/Vertical prototype
Detailed functionalities, few features
T prototype
Most of the interface is shallow with 1 or a few parts done in depth
Local prototypes
Intersections between a feature and step in task flow
Temporary prototypes to demonstrate two different design ideas - allows designers to choose one and grow in that direction
