Design Flashcards
Independant groups design and how are they allocated
Different ppn complete 2 or more levels of IV - randomly allocated
repeated measures design
The same participants are used in all the conditions in an experiment.
matched pairs design
pairs of participants are matched in terms of key variables/characteristics.
One member of each pair is then placed into the experimental group and the other member into the control group
Ads of repeated measures
Needs half amount of ppn compared to IG
Ppn variables not a problem
Related data
Disadvantages of repeated measures
MORE LIKELY TO WORK OUT THE AIM - DC
Order effects (1st condition influences the behaviour for 2nd)
Counter balancing
ABBA (each group does the conditions opp ways round to CONTROL (not eliminate) order effects
Independent group design ads
Less likely to work out aim -dc
No order effects
Independent group design dis
Need double ppn to RM
Unrelated data - cant be paired
Matched pairs ads
Related data, reduced ppn variables, no order effects
Matched pairs dif
Takes longer
Needs double ppn to RM
Ppn are similar not identical so cna have ppn variables
