DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS Flashcards
Measure of Central Tendency
Mean
Median
Mode
sum of all values divide by the size of the data set, Used when there is symmetric distribution & there are no outliers
Mean
middlemost value
used when data is nonsymmetrical
represent the point on the scale or distribution where the half of the variables is greater & other half is lesser
Median
value that occurs the most frequently in a data set
Useful in distinguishin unimodal & multimodal distributions
Mode
diff. between the largest & smallest observations
Range
average of squared deviation from the mean
Variance
measurement that shows how much of the values deviate from the mean ;
Square root of the variance
Standard Deviation
of existing cases of disease in the population during the defined period
Prevalence
number of new cases of disease that develop in the population during defined period
Incidence
