Describe a time when (you think) someone (you know) did not tell you the complete truth.
You should say:
+ what the situation was:
+ who did not tell you the whole truth
Being lied or telling a lie to somebody is a common situation in our daily life. I myself have experienced it before and I still remember clearly one occasion when I was a pupil in secondary school.
One day, I came to class and saw that my friend had a big bruise [bru:z] under her left eye. I was really worried, so I asked my friend what had happened to her. She said that she was fine; she had accidentally hit her head on the wall that morning. She pretended that it had been nothing more than a simple mishap[‘mishæp].
Later that day, after class, I found her crying in the corner of the parking lot. Knowing that something terrible had occurred, I ran to her and hugged her. She sobbed and told me that that morning her parents had been fighting and she had tried to stop them. Somehow, her father had accidentally hit her in the face. At that moment, I felt sorry for her although she had lied to me earlier. For the first time, I thought to myself that, sometimes, being lied to is not that bad at all, especially when the lie is not intended to hurt anybody.
