A
- apply scabicide to areas below the neck
- leave on for 8-12 hours
- wash off; repeat 1 week later
- treat all close contacts/family members
- wash all clothing/linens in hot water
- seal items in plastic bag for 3 wks if can’t be washed

Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
Erythema Multiforme Exudativum
A
Precipitated by certain drugs (antibiotics & anticonvulsants) or infection
Assessment - begins w/flu-like symptoms - malaise, sore throat, fever, headache
- painful red/purple rash develop; blisters; top layer of skin sloughs
Intervention - d/c all meds; supportive care (skin care - NS; mouth care - lidocaine swish; hydration - IV fluids or NG tube; pain mngmt; eye care - drops)
- self limiting
- biggest concern –> avoid serious complications
