what is a dermatofibroma
A
benign fibrous nodule usually found on the skin of the lower legs.
A dermatofibroma is also called a cutaneous fibrous histiocytoma.

aetiology of dermatofibroma
A
either neoplasm or reactive process
attributed to minor trauma
multiple in HIV, immunosuppression, autoimmune

clinical features of dermatofibroma
A
7-10mm
tethered to skin, mobile over subcut tissue
overlying skin dimples on pinching the lesion
pink/light brown in white skin, dark brown in dark skin
sometimes painful, tender, itchy

A
dermoscope - central white area surrounded by faint pigment network
excision biopsy

rx of dermatomyofibroma
A
reassurance
if nuisance - excision
recurrance common
