What were the ‘100 days’
The first 100 days Roosevelt was president
What 3 things happened in 1933 with the banks after roosevelt was elected
One of FDR’s first act was to restore confidence in the banking industry. Then FDR passed the Emergency banking act which was when governments supervised weaker banks. After this, a law was passed made banks take a step to protect people’s deposit.
What were president roosevelt’s fireside chats
These fireside chats were a radio broadcast were he spoke on what steps the government is taking which made people have trust in him
What was the NRA and what did it do
The NRA is the National Recovery Administration which worked with businesses to improve working practises by creating codes to ensure fair competiton so set wages and max working hours
What was the FERA and how did it work
The FERA is the federal emergency recovery act which provided money to the state and government for emergency relief. This funded relief payment to poor and unemployed people
What was the CCC and how did it work
The CCC was the civilian conservation corps which paid thousands of young men to work in projects which had given work to over 3 million people by 1942
What was the AAA and how did it work
The AAA was the agricultural adjustment administration which paid farmers to limit their food production causing their prices and income to rise and avoided overproduction
What was the aim of Roosevelt’s second deal
Aimed to improve people’s health and wellbeing
What was the Social Security Act of the 2nd new deal
This meant that Americans over age of 65 received government pensions, Workers who lost their job receive benefits and aimed to help sick, disabled and poor
What was the Wagner Act of the 2nd new deal
Gave workers right to join trade unions without risk of being sacked
What was the Works progress Administration of the 2nd new deal
created work for over 8.5 million people

The congress is a group of elected politicians who hold power in America alongside the president and supreme court

Constitution is a set of laws
What is the Supreme Court
Most powerful court in America which has 9 judges who are chosen by president and politicians
Why did the supreme court oppose to the New Deal
The supreme court thought that the New Deal involved Roosevelt taking power that the constitution had not given him
